March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb...This old cliche couldn't be more true than looking out the window in NJ this week. The skies have been grey, the wind was blistery for days, and Thursday night through nearly all day Friday, it snowed. Today, the sun is shining and temperatures are predicted to reach a high of 51 this weekend. We're definitely trending up and so, I officially declare Air Conditioning Season starting soon! Before you know it, your mailbox and inbox will provide solutions for air conditioning maintenance services.

Because just as you bring your car in for an oil change to keep the engine running, and rotate your tires to extend their useful 'life', so should you maintain the HVAC equipment that provides you with comfort each and every day. Not only does this keep the unit running well, extend the lifespan of the unit, but it also keeps efficiency up so that your energy costs stay as low as possible. Did you know that each year your air conditioner runs it loses a percentage of it's efficiency? That translates into higher utility bills. The key here is that an AC tune-up will help with system efficiency. It just makes sense!

Annual AC Tune-Up services avoid that first day panic call when you return home from a long work day only to find that your house is hot, it's been closed up all day, your pet is thirsty, and your indoor plants are wilting. And so, what do you do? If you've already established a relationship with a cooling service company, which is always wise, you at least have a foot in the door. But then you wonder, how many other people came home to the same situation? And, so, panic sets in. How do you avoid this? One way is to schedule a tune-up before the season begins. Why should you schedule annual maintenance? Read more about that here.  Simply stated, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

The sooner you arrange for this service, the higher up on the list your name will go, unless of course you have an air conditioning service contract with a local AC contractor. Why might you need a contract? Glad you asked...

An AC service plan typically includes your annual maintenance. The great thing about this is that you're automatically reminded, and sometimes haunted, but that's to be expected in the tumultuos world we live in. Our desks are piled high with reminders and yet we still don't seem to have the time to remember! We're just all so busy.

There are several types of AC maintenance or service contracts available. Most companies offer a discount plan, calling them 'discount clubs', 'preferred clubs', 'membership cluibs' etc. By and large they are a discount off services. And, does that sound good? Why, yes it does..everyone likes to save money.

Very few companies (and we're proud to be among the short list that do) offer full service comprehensive air conditioning service contracts. With a contract such as this, you receive priority service, annual tune-up maintenance, and free repairs to the equipment. (FREE you said?...Yes!)

No matter how you look at it, the key here is to maintain your air conditioning equipment. It will last longer, run more efficiently, keep your home more comfortable, and create a pleasant environment for you and  your family and friends.

Stay Cool!
