Finding a New Contractor Before You Need One...
Perhaps You've recently moved into your home or are packing and waiting for your closing date! If this is your first home or you're new to the neighborhood, odds are that you haven't established yourself with a good Air Conditioning and Heating Contractor. Hopefully the walk-through inspection found your HVAC system operating properly before you closed on your home, so it's really not a concern now....OR is it?
Contractors are used to being the 'out of sight; out of mind' people...until needed! They're using to dealing with thousands of homeowners and have yet to be as surprised or flustered as a new homeowner might be, when emergency service is needed. And, sadly, contractors are also used to having customers sound unhappy when they call. We suppose it's no fun to say "I'm waiting for my HVAC Service Company to come to my house", unlike the thrill in one's voice when the Home Designer is coming, or the new furniture is being delivered. Alas, Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors are really nice people.....Really, we are! And, we try awfully hard to make homeowners feel comfortable.
So, now, you ask.....what to do?
Here are some suggestions:
- Search the internet for a company that services your area.
- Read testimonials and reviews
- Call and introduce yourself.
Tell the owner or office staff that you're new to the area (perhaps a friend or neighbor has reccomended the company) and schedule a routine maintenance for your system so that when the time comes that you're in need of service in a hurry, you've already made the introduction and are comfortable with the company.
It's stressful to locate a repair company when you realize that your Central Air Conditioning isn't working.....or your Heating.....Water dripping? Have a professional plumber check it out before it becomes a major leak...The timing is never convenient, but we're here to help.
