Cooler weather is coming to New Jersey...higher energy bills, too.
We've got some thoughts about saving money this heating season!
While the weather in New Jersey has been warm this past week, there is no doubt that winter is heading our way and heating season has arrived...Energy costs have skyrocketed and every dollar counts. Here are some tips from your favorite Northern NJ heating contractor as we shift gears to heating season.
# 1. Be sure the heat can circulate
- Don't block forced air vents with furniture or rugs
- Leave some space around hot water baseboard
- Make sure the vents on your steam radiators are open and the radiators are heating up
# 3. Check the windows and doors throughout your house to ensure you’re not letting cold air in and heated air out
# 4. Turn on your ceiling fans to encourage air flow
# 5. Consider a digital set-back thermostat to save on energy costs when your home is unattended - lower the temperature for a great night's sleep and save some money, too
Another thing to consider is the age of your heating equipment. Older furnaces, boilers and ductless systems work harder to ensure your comfort, evidenced by higher utility bills. Replacing these older heating units can save you up to 15% on your annual heating costs. Consider installing a high efficiency system today!
Having your furnace, boiler or ductless system serviced each year will maximize efficiency and save you money. Questions? Let us know!
