Ductless Air Conditioning: 6 Reasons All The Cool Kids Are Doing It!

As a little girl, I can remember fondly sleeping at my grandparent's apartment on a hot summer night in the late 1950s, with the venetian blinds open so that we got a little breeze.

No air conditioning for us back in those days...and no one else either. Boy, did it get hot!

You just couldn't cool off during the day or evening hours, and so upon the return home, I yearned for my parents to attach the oscillating sprinkler to a hose so I could run through the cold water.

Soon after that central air conditioning became all the craze and our family, having added air conditioning to the services we offered, was installing systems by the hundreds (fueled by natural gas!) in the 1960s.

As time went by all of the homes that could be air conditioned were pretty much done and it was now the 90s...the ac unit replacement market had our attention.

But, still the owners of cape cod-style homes, tudors and victorians suffered with window units that had to be removed each winter and carried in each spring. The window units were clunky, noisy, dripped water, and were unsightly.

Some homeowners had larger window-type units installed through the wall and framed out so that these air conditioners could stay in place. But the same issues applied. There was always an unsightly electrical cord and the units were noisy, too and not thermostatically controlled.

Here we are now, in the 2nd decade of the 21st century and we're happily able to bring comfort to homeowners with layouts that were impossible to cool previously because of the design and structure of their homes.

The benefits of Ductless Air Conditioning:

1. No more lugging window units up and down stairs each season.

2. Cool an addition without having to cannibalize the design of your existing system.

3. No damage and restoration to existing walls and ceilings.

4. Cool several rooms with the same exterior unit in a multi-split system layout.

5. Remote thermostatic control of your comfort.

6. Whisper-quiet!

Remember the quote from the fabulous movie Goodbye, Columbus in 1969? "Close the door, there's air conditioning!" You could say that next week!
