When's the last time you paid any attention to your sump pump?
Do you even know if your sump pump is working properly?
Good quesion, right?
All of the snow has melted in our local NJ area, and we have had a fair amount of rain. The reservoirs are sufficiently full, and yesterday it poured. So, there's a good chance that your sump pump may be attempting to pump the rising ground water.
Your sump pump sits idly by, well-behaved in a corner of your basement or utility room until a rainy spell, or the melting of a signficant snow storm comes.
You'll hear 'something' going on and off and perhaps you might even realize that it's your sump pump.
And then, one day, you hear nothing and you take a step into the area that your sump pump services and lo and behold you step into water! SPLASH!
It appears that your sump pump has started and stopped so many times that it may have burned out and needs a replacement or perhaps some other issue requires a repair.
So, it's a good chance to have a professional plumber check your sump pump.
Additionally, I'd like to make you aware of a great idea. We've installed many hundreds of these trusty water actuated backup pumps that will work even if your power fails! So give some thought to a backup plan with a backup up system.
